The topic of the first lecture was “International Sourcing and Outsourcing- a strategic problem?”, presented by Prof. Dr. Per Servais.
It was all about International Sourcing. Next he showed us the results from an empirical survey. Another topic was “Import- export in the firm”. The most important Import and Export countries for Denmark are Germany, Sweden and the UK. Also he talked about the advantages and disadvantages of Outsourcing and Off- shoring. We got to know more about the differences of International purchasing and Global sourcing and the motives of international sourcing.

Afterwards we got another presentation of Tage Koed Madsen, another professor of the SDU.
We learned something about internationalization processes of firms-traditional models. The product lifecycle model, internationalization in a network perspective and the national diamond were explained to us. In further detail we gained knowledge about international new ventures and particular of born global firms, that become international right after inception.
For us this topic was very interesting, because in the last days we learned that Denmark has a lot of born global firms.
